ASAP ’06 is truly a showcase of Philippines’ best talents in music, in dance and even a showcase of our very own culture. As it airs every Sunday at ABS-CBN network, it shows to the viewers how rich our culture in terms of talents. I am not being biased here but I think, ASAP shows more talents and they kept on upbringing that. They try on different stuffs every week telling everyone that each has his or her own talents. And you just have to discover it yourself and when you have, let it be known to other people.
It also tells us that the singers, actors, hosts and dancers were once normal persons aspiring to be an artist. They knew they had the talent and enough courage to show what they have got. I know this message isn’t literally being said to the viewers but I think, besides from entertainment, this is one of the reasons why they had put up a show like that.
Also not all Filipino variety shows displays Filipino talents, who sing their own songs – Filipino songs, dance their own grooves – Filipino tunes and hosts their own show. Thus, originality is shown all throughout. Sometimes, Filipino traditions and rituals are exhibited in ASAP ’06 like celebrating birthdays (ex. blowing of candles), weddings (ex. wishing the bride the best of luck) or even Christmas (singing Christmas carols). And as viewers, we just have to be PROUD.
Once said, I’ll tell it again, PROUD TO BE A FILIPINO.
