Having known Sitti Navarro as the girl from Christian Bautista’s The way you look at me and a classmate of my sister in College, I thought she was just another model with a pretty face. Nothing more. Judgment ruled me again. My sister said that she was already singing in local lounges and hotels as a sideline.
I saw her at Eat Bulaga promoting her album, Café Bossa and performing one of her songs, Para Sa Akin. Bossa Nova by the way is a rhythm based on Samba music which originated from Brazil. I was irritated when I heard her music because she was trying to make her voice smaller but then, it was also soothing in a kind of way. I eagerly searched her music in the internet and immediately listened to it. Her voice is so unique and she renders jazz/ bossa nova music well. I like Para Sa Akin and Mas Que Nada because of its cool and romantic beat. And personally, it makes me want to do a Latin Dance. (Waha! I’m not kidding! :))
Maybe one reason why her music is a hit nowadays is because it is far too different from the other genres – Pop, Rock, Alternative, Rhythm and Blues and etc. Also, she has captured the hearts of many Filipino Jazz music lovers.
Guys, let’s sing altogether - I didn’t know I was looking for love ‘till I found YOU. :)
