PCD: Live in Manila! :)
“Nobody's gonna love me better I must stick with you forever.”
- The Pussycat Dolls - Stickwitu
It was in 2004 that the dance troupe was transformed into a recording group. The Pussycat Dolls were recast, giving us the six sexy ladies we have on our bedroom walls.
Hey,dolls!
Nicole Kea/Scherzinger is the lead vocalist of the Dolls. She’s half Filipina. She says, jokingly, that she was excited to come to the Philippines because she wants to be in a place where everyone looks like her. She cried as she stepped off the plane when she saw lines of people waiting for them.Nicole began performing with Actors Theatre of Louisville. She later majored in theater arts at Wright State University, but put her studies on hold to pursue dancing.
Carmit Bachar is one of the original Dolls. She’s been a member of the group longer than any other performer. She’s a dancer—both her parents were dancers, so it’s in her blood. She was a gymnast - she has competed in the Gymnastics World Championships. She is, of course, a musician as well. She attended the Hamilton Academy of Music in Los Angeles, studying music, dance, piano, and viola. Aba.
Meanwhile, the other members of the group are really centered on dancing.
Jessica Sutta started dance classes at the age of three, and at 14 she went to the New World School of the Arts to study dance. She joined the Miami Heat dance team in 1999, and became its captain in 2001.
Kimberly Wyatt has danced since she was seven years old. By the time she was 14 she was earning scholarships to study in New York each summer. Robin Antin, PCD’s founder, says, “Kimberly is the sexiest dancer I have ever seen in my life.”
Ashley Roberts began dancing at the age of 3, and singing at the age of 8. After high school she moved permanently to Los Angeles, and within six months of her move she was also a Pussycat Doll.
Melody Thornton, lastly, is the baby of the group. She was found from an open call audition. She saw the Dolls on MTV and heard they were auditioning for a new band member. Melody went along to the audition and was chosen. “It’s a Cinderella story,” she says.

Just yesterday at about 8 in the evening, Pussycat Dolls: Live in Manila! Concert started and having to attend such event made me feel so blissful. Since their first single: Don’t Cha came out of the market last year, I’ve been always looking forward to their next single/s to come out. I just love their songs, especially Beep and Bite the Dust because they make me groove and sing along. Alongside with their singing, I admire them for being great dancers because not all could do those very HOT moves and they dance unbelievably. (Wahahha!! :)) It was great to see them perform live especially Nicole, a half-Filipino/Russian/Hawaiian who cried because she felt overwhelmed when the crowd sang with her plus she’s home.
I think that it is both good and in someway bad that Filipinos are known internationally. It is great to see Filipinos being waved, shouted and screamed at by the people in different parts of the world. However, I feel that this phenomenon is quite saddening because they are just as good as the Filipinos but the Filipinos not given the proper recognition. I hope that every Filipino here and abroad will be given the same kind of respect by our fellowmen. Nevertheless, it is still great seeing Filipinos making big in the international music scene. We are talented people; we don’t have to be ashamed of it, limiting our talents only to our homeland. It’s about time for the world to see what Filipinos have got. Although we have a low economy, we are still rich in natural talents that inhabit every Filipino.
The Pussycat Dolls – Hot, sexy, gorgeous and talented. Much pride in them! :)
