Club Penguin
“Make friends and play games in the online snowbound wonderland that is Club Penguin."
"Interact with other penguins by chatting, playing games, using emotes (emotion icons) and actions (i.e. wave, dance, sit, walk or throw a snowball). By playing games, you can earn virtual coins. As a member, you can spend these coins on clothing and accessories for your penguin or furniture for your igloo.”
Have you heard of this game? Well, I haven’t until my friends introduced this game just last Thursday. They said it was fun, entertaining and it was the hottest game on the internet. I got curious and at the same time enticed so I had to try it.
It was true. The game was simply fun, easy-to-learn, entertaining, and a bit engaging because I actually found myself playing the game repeatedly – meaning all day. Adding to that, the game is interactive, so you get to meet people of different ages, places, genders and etc. Don’t get too nervous because all rooms in the game are moderated and parents know this.
Even though I like and play the game, I still think there are things that would not get my approval. An example would be, kids with ages 10 and below giving their ages and genders. This kind of act is inappropriate because if you would read the Club’s guidelines it was stated there that it is prohibited to give out ages and to do so will account for a punishment.
You may say, they can be dishonest with their ages but Club penguin is mostly filled with kids and isn't it there is a saying that goes like “kids don't lie.” So what do you think?
In addition to that, it is like a bandwagon effect – if one gives out his/her age/gender, the other will give his/her too and everyone else will follow.
But hey! If you happen to be bored and you have nothing else to do, come to Club Penguin! You might even find me there. :)
